Sometimes I get really, really, really depressed after watching anime. It's not because it was a depressing show or anything like that. In fact it's usually the more happy show that make me feel the worst. It's when I see all these youthful characters in their teenage years or early twenties going on adventures, having friendship, finding love, and all the other exciting things going on in the lives of their characters. And then when it's done I'm left to reflect on my life and how I will never get to have anything like that. I realize I'm an old man who's never done anything with his life. I've never had close friends. I've never gone on amazing adventures. I've never experienced love and I probably never will, and it's definitely too late to be young and in love. I've never fought for something I cared about. In fact I don't really have anything I care much about at all. Everything is just so dull and empty. All I do day after day is go to work then come home and try to make the feeling go away by submerging myself in fantasy escapism. But lately it hasn't been working as well and it's becoming harder and harder to make the feeling go away. Everything feels so bad.

You need to push yourself at least that much, because at least then you'll be ready to immediately try to re-integrate yourself into society if you're feeling up for it, whereas if you let yourself go, it'll feel like and be a bigger hole to climb out of.

You're suffering from a lack of will. Your life has gotten so dull and pointless, that you don't have any strong convictions or beliefs. You're looking for something to "live for." It might be hard to fix if you're old, because your mind keeps thinking about what didn't happen, but the only way things will improve is if you focus on what you can do in the present. I know it's shitty, I know it's the last thing you wanna do, but go outside. Interact with people and try out activities. I'm assuming you don't enjoy your job, so find something else that you can spend time on and enjoy. 9 times out of 10 you'll fail, but eventually you'll find something that's slightly more enjoyable than other things. That's your ticket. From there, you can work on it, find people who also enjoy it, make connections, accomplish things, and be satisfied at the end of the day. Just never think that it's too late.

When I was a kid, I went to the video store and my mom let me pick out some mech anime. I remember it because it's the first time I saw nudity, in a scene where the main character/pilot sees a vision or has a dream or something of his friend/girlfriend naked floating in the air above him.
I remember that the guy eventually sacrificed himself and walked off into the ocean or something.

I went to McDonald's today and got a Filet-O-Fish combo with a bacon cheeseburger on the side. I was eating it in my vehicle in the parking lot and listening to an audiobook when I glanced up and saw the McDonald's worker I ordered outside having a cigarette.
She waved at me and I nodded and had to wait 7 minutes before she went back inside and I could eat in comfort again. I don't think that employees should be bothering or even trying to socialize with customers outside of the McDonald's restaurant or drive through, but that is another story.
I went to McDonald's for dinner tonight and got a McChicken combo with a bacon cheeseburger on the side. As I was driving to the second window the same girl was still working. She was acting somewhat obsequious and attempting small talk when she asked, 'why don't you come eat inside instead of in the parking lot where it is cold'.
That really bothered me for many reasons. First of all, I don't want my routine or actions to be tracked by a fast food employee. Secondly, she should not try to tell me how I should live my life. I do not want to eat inside because I find it less comfortable and would much rather be inside my vehicle listening to an audiobook and enjoying myself and my privacy.
Overall, I think it was very unprofessional to bring this up. I should have a clean slate with each drive through visit, not have to get the third degree because I committed some sort of faux pas. Which I don't think I did, because I often see people eating in fast food parking lots. How does she know I am not busy going to work or somewhere in a rush?

I know exactly how you feel. Lately Ive been going to some italian restaurant nearby quite often since I dont want to cook. I go late because fuck other people. So lately when there are no other customers to serve she sits down and chats with me. I was okay with this but lately she starts acting weird and asks if I want to go and have a drink somewhere.
