I'm a compulsive movie watcher, and the lesser quality movies I watch in 2x with subtitles. I have watched more than 2000 movies like this. At 1 hour and 45 minutes on average, it takes 3500 hours at 1x and 1750 at 2x. At some 7 to 10 movies a week it would take about 4 years. In my case, it probably took some 6 years I think, I've also seen plenty of good movies in 1x over the course of these 31 years. It did wonders for my dynamic reading skills though.
It didn't bother my gaming, my reading or my studies. But then again I settled for a cool paying public service job that doesn't take away many hours of my life. Also got married, all that. Of course I never went out much and never bothered with parties and degenerate things like that.
So it's perfectly possible. You possibly spend more time browsing /a/ than watching animu.
