Do you prefer anime or manga/light novels?
>>
booth!
Toradora! FTW
>>
In my opinion it's anime. The only reason anybody reads light novels or manga is because the anime is over and they want to continue the story so it's that or nothing.
>>
Why do you think fate fans are crying for a heavens feel anime adaptation? If the source material was so great nobody would care. They just want the better form of entertainment. This is only one of many examples.
>>
Light novels don't have music.

Anime for the art, light novels for the story. Not really in to manga very much, its the bastard child of animation and books.

The problem is when you're reading light novels you're basically reading books and imagining the characters are anime. Why not just read a real book that that's better and pretend in your head the characters are anime?

>>142505726
You can just look to this post. Anime brings new elements to a story, such as sound. It also brings in other peoples perspectives of scenes, people and objects. For example. Heavy Object, the objects designs in my head were pretty shitty thanks to the rather crappy representation the LNs had for them. The anime did a much better job bringing the objects to life and filling in the blanks. You can be a brat and whine about how the anime didnt get your one favorite moment right or you can enjoy the anime for what it is as long as they dont completely butcher the plot.
>>
>>142506456
>light novel readers watch the anime 100%
I'm not defending LNs, but you can't prove it
>>
Manga would be my preferred medium because of it's greater potential to tell better stories, something that comes from the author being allowed to have larger creative freedom. The art in manga is usually more detailed then in anime and there is a greater verity of stories compered to the ones that are made or adapted into anime. I'd also say that anime is better then light novel but that is mostly because while I like some light novels I am not familiar with many light novels that are not generic crap that most often tries to appeal to people by following popular trends.

Anime will always be superior for me, Just having OST's and glorious VA's is too hard to beat.

I find it hard reading manga for long periods of time because sometimes it just feels so uninteresting because you're reading it and you can't feel anything or get hyped about text on the internet.

Seriously, read this shit:

>"That is to say, you are in love with this lady as you were with Madame Bonacieux," said Athos, shrugging his shoulders contemptuously, as if he pitied human weakness.
>"I? not at all!" said d'Artagnan. "I am only curious to unravel the mystery to which she is attached. I do not know why, but I imagine that this woman, wholly unknown to me as she is, and wholly unknown to her as I am, has an influence over my life."
>"Well, perhaps you are right," said Athos. "I do not know a woman that is worth the trouble of being sought for when she is once lost. Madame Bonacieux is lost; so much the worse for her if she is found."
>"No, Athos, no, you are mistaken," said d'Artagnan; "I love my poor Constance more than ever, and if I knew the place in which she is, were it at the end of the world, I would go to free her from the hands of her enemies; but I am ignorant. All my researches have been useless. What is to be said? I must divert my attention!"

This is LN-tier writing. And that doesn't make it any less of a classic and a good story.

Is that the excuse people use who are to lazy to learn other languages?

Most decent people can use multiple languages. There is no "better" languages that's subjective. So the real question is not why learn a diffrent languages but what languages you're going to learn.

And if you aren't a newfag but a real /a/utists who watches a ton of anime, reads at least as many mangas and reads many light novels than Japanese can only be beneficial.

I'm probably stuck with this media for my whole life so it would be a waste to not learn Japanese.

Light novels would be better if they were audio books accompanied with dramatic music that would be used as if in an anime, and then VAs read the characters lines.

I think it'd be pretty sweet to listen to an audio book and then hear the instrumentals drop at rhe dramatic segments.

There are YA books in Japan as well, with publishing labels dedicated to them. Some are LNs, and some are not.
The relevant terms in Japanese publishing are juvenile fiction, young adult fiction, and light novels. There is plenty of overlap, but they are by no means synonymous.

Where does it say that?

I prefer anime to manga. Also, I never read light novels, because they are the cancer that is currently killing anime.
>>
>>142512827
At first I wanted to call you a clueless EOP (which you are), but then I realized most LNs I read are very unLN-like and outliers, so I guess it's effectively true that the typical LN is the shit "killing anime".

Someone has the expiration date for ShitNovels and the anime that comes from it?
this seasonal bullcrap makes me sick
>>

Anime then the vanilla doujins that come with it
>>
>>142512675
I totally buy that, and I see the usage often enough in materials online, but it's not standardized at all.
Before Tokyopop went bust, there was a big effort to make Japanese books sound less exotic by pigeonholing them in western formats; that's the only time period I've seen industry presentations explicitly talk about LNs being the equivalent of YA books or sharing their exact audience.

i don't know what is worse. Keit-Ai Spammer or Anti Keit-Ai Spammer. Both equally as bad probably

i've watched the 2 seasons of oregairu within a week but it took me two months to read the first 4 LN vols of wataru watari and i'm usually a fast reader.

manga≥anime>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>lightnovels
>>
>>142504598
I'm seriously starting to prefer good lightnovel. I don't having to deal with crap animation and no ending with them.
Or having to deal with a manga risking hiatus, or cancellation at any time as soon it doesn't pander to the magazine's specific audience.

LN > Anime > VN >> shit >> manga = anime storyboards.
>>
>>142514203
Books written by people older than 14 >>>>> Manga > VN > SHIT >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> LN = Anime

Maybe if they put more effort into Anime, it wouldn't be garbage. Instead they adapt the shittiest LNs self-insert garbage written by middle-schoolers 90% of the time. Japanese "LN"s are just all trash, completely worthless. Manga USUALLY have effort put into them, at least until they get serialized, and then they give up. VNs that aren't garbage "dating" sex simulators like Fate/Shit and Tsukihime are also usually good, or at least interesting. It's a good way to put music into a story to enhance it, and also provides character images and scenes that can be hard to imagine.

If you watch anime for the "action XD" just go watch Transformers 42 or Marvel's who gives a shit 25 and get bombarded with sound and flashing lights for 3 horus, I guarantee they'll have better action scenes than any anime.

manga

The anime adaptation is always worse then the manga. That and only shit reaches anime these days.

Orwell's essays are more impactful, Salinger speaks to you cause he is also a fedora faggot, Great Gatsby lost its poignancy as the lavishness of prohibition got insta-forgotteb , Ulysses is byzantine and mostly read in the same way many fedora kids learn a few neat guitar tricks to scream about musical proficiency while lacking any real technical depth (in the case of Joyce, a decent grip of the Western canon into which to put Ulysses) just to be tryhard.

Who are you trying to impress anyway?
>>
>>142515263
I don't agree with the other anon's obviously pretentiousness but not reading classics from the Western canon because you don't want to seem pretentious is just as tryhard.
>>
>>142514078
What are you even on about? Manga gets completed more often than anime and has a wider variety of content to choose from. It's not a hard choice.
>>
>>142514712
Nigga most of this season are actually manga adaptions, not LN.
>>
>>142515363
The only book in that list I haven't read is Ulysses because I don't have the time to put the requisite effort to read it in context. The rest were compulsory reading in high school so I don't really see why it would be special to have read those. I think it's important to read literature but not something that makes a person exceptional as fedorafriends make it out to be. Plus a lot of works that seem erudite are really trashy. I read Cretien's Arthurian Romances and that might as well be set to some trashy hip hop: the shoutouts like you'd hear in mixtapes are there and the boasting could make Kanye look humble.
>>
>>142516499
I don't get what you're getting at. Reading classics is always better than not if only because now you know what they are about. It's like how having seen Eva is pretty rudimentary regardless if it is liked or not.
>>
>>142506360
why don't you call it weeaboo website?
>>
>>142504598
It depends. Sometimes the anime is a shit adaptation (like Schwarzesmarken), sometimes it isn't (Haruhi).

Unlike many, I don't mind it so much if an anime does it's own thing so long as it makes sense. Anime changes are usually kind of strange though (like turning Kirino into a bitch).

The only LN I've read completely was Baccano!. And that's only because the anime was pretty much never going to get a sequel.

But overall I prefer watching anime as opposed to reading it.
