It sounds like something I'd enjoy, but I'm afraid it will be another unresolved LN anime. I won't watch until there's news of another season.

Basically these, the time looping power is interesting but it has been done before and better in other anime. The fight choreography is handled really well but when I feel nothing for these flat characters the scene loses any kind of weight. But most importantly is the apparent lack of an actual goal. I was ambivalent about it at first because I'm always concerned about the potential of any isekai story to turn into a generic self-insert fantasy battle harem. Having said that, the second half of the first episode definitely drew me in, and I have to say that I love the idea of a feature-length opening episode. Really cool stuff.
Once it hit the end of episode 4 (and something something WN spoilers I wish I hadn't accidentally read) I realised that this series is going down the exact road I was hoping for it to. Far from turning into a generic battle harem, it has instead been transforming into a very dark psychological thriller.
Since then it has basically been getting better with each new episode, and a big part of that is how the main characters have really been getting a lot of development, especially in the last handful of episodes. Biggest potential for AOTY this year, and I can't wait to see where the next arc takes the story.

Time looping is a thing which I've seen done a few times, but the only other instance in which I've seen a series try to explore the psychology of being stuck in a time loop is arguably ~ episode 13 of S;G. I wasn't even defending the show with it; it's more like I was creating a contrast between a valid and an invalid reason to dismiss it as not being an emotional series. I'll tell you why. Thanks to being able to go back in time and save people, Subaru is now partly responsible for determining who lives and who dies. If he manages to advance the save point without saving someone, they're dead forever, and if he could have potentially saved them and still advanced the save point, it would be his fault and his burden to live with.
I'd like to think that I would have also had the guts to (only an episode 7 spoiler)jump off of that cliff in the loop when Rem was the one who died from the curse instead of Subaru.

Part of it comes down to seeing her as the only reliable person he can find in that world. He's metaphorically drowning in a totally unfamiliar environment and sees her as something of a rope to grab onto. It probably helps that everyone else has generally either been rude to him or tried to kill him at some point.

There are potential plausible reasons why he'd want to save those other characters, but I definitely don't think this story did them properly enough (or early enough, if it's tucked into some obscure corner of the LN later on). A dive into the MC's psyche to see why he was a total shut-in up until the moment he was transported but now suddenly wants to reach out is not only an interesting moment, it should be a necessary moment in a story like this. Otherwise the suffering is pretty generic, in the store-bought, one-size-fits-all sense.

I can completely understand a reason for it even without that extra context. He's found himself in a new unfamiliar world where his reputation is still unknown. That represents a new chance to be bold and try again, and it's a new chance he's being given repeatedly too.

I find it strange that the most boring arc in the LNs/manga is being viewed as "good" by the anime viewing public.
This story's peak was the first arc. Then we get the bland as all shit second arc, and then every single arc that follows is just torture porn, madness, sadness and misery.
Personally I'm not even sure how they can animate about half of the 3rd arc, as it was shit that was too gruesome even for the movie Hostel.
