Have you ever realized how insignificant your existence on this planet really is?

That happened to me back when I was in the 6th grade, I'll never forget it.
My dad took us to a baseball game at a stadium. I didn't care about baseball at all but I got surprised when we got there.
There were so many people out there, it was like all of Japanese people were packed in the stadium.
Then I turned to my dad and asked him how many people were there.
He said since the stadium was full, it was about 50,000.
I already learned the Japan's population is like 100 million in social study, so I divided it by 50,000.
The answer was 2,000.
I got surprised by that again, the crowd in the stadium that looked like very large was just a fraction of the entire population.
After that, I noticed it.
Until then, I thought I was kinda special, it was fun to be with my family, and I had fun with my classmates too.
I believed people and things around me were literally special and so was I.
But it wasn't true.
Those kind of things were really ordinary and happened all over the places in Japan.
Waking up, brushing my teeth, and going to school, there was nothing special about my life.
I felt like everything I thought was cool and interesting faded away to a gray void.
But if there were so many people in this world, then there had to be someone who was living in a weird and special life.
If so, why wasn't that me?

That's how I realized that.

I'd consider myself a big Haruhi fan but yeah fuck Yuki-chan, dropped that like a rock after a few episodes. Didn't help that it premiered when I was in a bit of an anime slump though, didn't watch much at all during that time.
I'm hoping the corporate whoevers don't think that Yuki-chan being not so popular means haruhi isn't so popular as well.

Remove 4 zeros from 50k, and 4 zeros from 100 million.
100,000,000 becomes 10,000, and 50,000 becomes 5. From there its a piece of cake.
Obviously I can say that now as a non-6th grader but I think younger us could have handled it if we knew that rule.

For all the hype surrounding it, Haruhi is a surprisingly good LN.
Also, I remember this sort of feeling too, realising just how many people are there in the world and how ordinary all of my problems are. It was kind of calming, but also scary - I felt so ordinary and insignificant, nothing like a cartoon character. So I began to dream that one day I'll have great magical adventures and become special, like in the books.
Then I grew up, and, as it turns out, my family has a fucked up history which was hidden away from me, I have no citizenship and a rare cognitive disorder, and I ended up having a social circle full of weird ass people. I can tell a lot of stories, like that one time I lived on somebody's mansard roof for two weeks, or how I stood in the middle of a snowy port, with nothing but my laptop in one arm and phone in the other, my face visually a blood-covered mess and my speech incomprehensible from three nights of barely sleeping. And yet I'm still as normal and insignificant as people get. My uniqueness comes from my ability to lovingly keep every memory I get, because no one has the same set as me.
It's cool how unique we all are.

The authors wanted to keep the series more or less family-friendly, so they put the obvious implication by way of words like "disgraceful behavior". Otherwise, it wouldn't make sense that a try-everything type A person like Haruhi wouldn't sample the D at least once.

Funny you should mention Einstein, since her whole "time plane" theory is basically a simplified description of the ADM formalism in GR.

I am more inclined to accept kozumi's model of haruhi's power simply because it is the better model, for it is falsifiable(unlike asahina's) and does not use ambiguous language(unlike nagato's).

but from haruhi's perspective it would indeed be "unlocking the mysteries of the universe"
>>
>>142251493
is it? can you elaborate? because I only understand physics at a rudimentary level and the wiki on it does use other terminology that I would have to look up and I really am not up to that at the moment.
>>
>>142251867

The ADM formalism represents spacetime by a bunch of things called "foliations", which are basically 3D spatial slices of the 4D spacetime. These leaves, if you will, are then joined together, as if they were paper cards hanging on a thread of time.

though it could be argued that haruhi "wishing" for something can be deemed ambiguous language.

but that phrasing can be changed to her wanting something to be true or her believing something to be true; whichever is more apt. I still think that the said terminology is preferable to nagato's "haruhi is creating new data" model.

In reality, the way that slicing works depends on the relative velocities of the observers. But since Haruhi and the Brigade are all on Earth, in approximately the same inertial frame, the slicing works. This is why the ADM formalism is just that, a formalism, and not an equivalent description of GR. For that you still have to go back to the tensor calculus until you find an exact solution (assuming one exists).
>>
The things I experience and see in this very moment are exclusive to my perception and no one else. A lot of people might share my opinions or live similar lives, but my vision is one and only.

The universe is useless without an observer to take it all in and stand there in awe. There is a lot of uncertainty but one thing is for sure. You are special, you are the only one. You are you, and there is nothing that can change that.

>Have you ever realized how insignificant your existence on this planet really is?
>That happened to me back when I was in the 6th grade, I'll never forget it.
>My dad took us to a baseball game at a stadium.
>Then I turned to my dad and asked him how many people were there.
>He said since the stadium was full, it was about 50,000.

Many things are under your control if you have ambition AND perseverance. Some things are not such as intrinsic brain power or both parents being responsible and wholesome. But the world is filled with brilliant people who never amounted to anything because they never persevered. And the world has "slow" people who are successful because they kept at it (I have a friend who is low on IQ but owns two companies now and is a millionaire due to perseverance and values). And of course luck.

You say insignificance in a stadium of 50,000? Did you try to be top 100 at your high school? Assume 25 high schools in your region, so you are in the top 2,500. SInce many students don't even try, if you tried and studied, you are going to be in the top 20% at your school at least. I had my picture with the governor when our city's civic & convention center had its groundbreaking. In fact, I was co-holding the shovel with the city mayor and the photographer caught the scene with the dirt flying in the air. In that stadium, how many have done that? Well, some of them probably skydived, climbed a real mountain, passed some grueling challenges, so they are in the top half of that stadium.

Rather than find excuses to feeling insignficant, you should feel annoyed that you aren't trying to apply efforts in a smarter direction. And ignore that smart aleck Haruhi and nihilism attitude.

And you feel as if any of these are worthwhile accomplishments? Why does any of this matter? What is it that makes these people somehow better than even lowest dregs of society, some NEET hikki who posts in imageboards all day. Why should we grade ourselves on a scale that arbitrary?

look upon my works ye mighty and despair

What's the consensus on Super Driver?

Why did Hirano Aya had to suck so much dick, /a/?

It's because of her love of cock that we will never have a Season 3.

God damn it, man.

I thought the reason we don't have S3 was because the broadcast networks flipped out over Endless Eight.

Nah.

Hirano Aya is the reason here.

It's legit.

Maybe he's just butturt.

We got yuki with Aya
The reason for no S3 is no new novels, so Kadokawa has nothing to sell and thus no reason to promote Haruhi

You'd think that there would be money to be made in a show that's an absolute cultural phenomenon.
