Reading the manga and I have two questions
How the fuck do these fingers move when literally nothing is connecting them to the arm except two door hinges? It looked like they had a lever to clench the fist and that was just forgotten about. Officially, he doesn't move them. They tell you about the magnet and how he can't move the fingers, hence the scene where Caska falls to the water in the latest chapters and Guts can't catch her with the robot arm.
In the manga, Guts does stuff with the fingers like giving a "come at me" handsign, but it's more for cool effect than an actual plot point. Maybe he just shakes the hand to move the fingers with the momentum but it's far-fetched.
Something interesting is that in the Berserk armor, he can move his fingers with magic.
