Only by being dragged along to everything for the course of the show. I don't know, to me it seemed like they made a checklist of personality traits for her to make sure she came across as autistic.

I've actually been diagnosed with high-functioning Asperger's since 4. For the most part, I'm fine with hugs, especially if it's someone I like. If a stranger hugged me, it would be extremely uncomfortable, but when I'm happy I like to hug friends of mine,especially of the opposite sex. That said, for the first few years of my life, I was very particular about how I was hugged by my parents, (what sort of angle and the tightness).
So liking hugs is not something that disqualifies you from being Autistic.

But I've consequently done my research on my ailment and about the history of the diagnosis, and those who likely had it (Cavendish and Turing in particular) from Asperger and Kanner's classifications at the same time on opposite sides of the Atlantic, why Kanner's interpretation was successful and retarded the treatment of those with autism for half a century, as well as the cultural uplifting effect that Rain-Man had on autism awareness, around about the same time Temple Grandin started to campaign for neurodiversity. I know it's pretty shitty proof to just ramble about your knowledge of the syndrome, but I'm well versed in the history of autism, not to mention having gone through the state support system for assistant teachers and the like.
