Do unhealthy relationships usually make better love-stories than healthy relationships?

How come both punpun and girl by the sea end in such ugly manner, like nothing really happened and everything's fine. I feel like I'm triggered for no reason.

Aiko is a bitch that ruined Punpun's life, so explain how she did nothing wrong.

New Inio waifus coming through:
>>
>>141951448
Well, she and his mother.
It started when she blamed him for not running away with her as a child.
Then she came back years later and used him as a proxy to kill her mother. She knew that he wasn't the real murderer but kept quiet. In the end, she didn't even stay with him and decided to commit suicide.

>>141951411
Umibe no Onnanoko
just finished it and was left with the same feelings
>>
>>141951541
All punpun had to do was say he was sorry to her the next day, instead of avoiding her in High School.

I'm not blaming punpun, because it's not his fault that he can't understand these basic things about talking to people, but it's not Aiko's fault either that any of this happened.
>>
>>141951543
That's because Inio is a one trick pony. His style is a just a mix of meme movies like Scott Pilgrim and sad young love stories like the opening scene from Up.
>>
>>141951647
I haven't watched either of those movies, but you could argue that those movies stole from things that came before them, and eventually you'd realize that it's natural for every artist/movie-writer/author to take concepts from other stories and add their own flavour to them.

Everything's been done before.
>>
>>141951286
Unhealthy relationships are more romantic I think. There is very little that is more beautiful than two people who are mutually dependent on each other, two halves of the same whole. It's the reason why the 'us vs them' mentality is so prevalent amongst young lovers. I do have to admit the idea is seductive to me, though I realize it destroys your individuality.
In regards to the OP, their naivety was their only mistake, the idea that they could stay innocent forever. Their inability to move on either with or without each other was their downfall. Constantly dwelling on mistakes and ifs killed them. The saddest part is they finally would have found happiness together if it wasn't for that God damn mom.
>>
>>141951756
Why didn't they call the police after they killed her and say it was self defense?
>>
>>141951827
Self defence laws in Japan are extremely iffy

Punpun followed his heart.
How can you even call that a wrong thing to do? Staying with Saki without trying to be with Aiko would have been the worst decision of his life.

He only settled with her because Aiko died. His heart was still with Aiko.

>when the bae calls you a faggot for worrying about your retarded delusional little brother
>>
>>141953030
There are some pretty bizarre fan theories about this manga:
1) That guy was actually hallucinating Shimzu after they parted ways in Highschool
2) The striped-shirt guy that PunPun beat up was actually all in his head, and he was beating up himself until Aiko showed up.

Damn, can't remember the other crazy theories, but there were a few more.
>>
>>141951366
>nothing really happened and everything's fine.
Pegasus and his crew saved the Earth from a literal meteor and Punpun is a husk of a person who isn't even allowed to die. Not really "fine" m8.
>>
>>141953115
>Pegasus saved
Stopped reading there. Pegasus was a retard and he didn't do anything to save anyone. The author included him in the manga to show how deluded those so called "enlightened" or "zen" people can really be. Pegasus was basically a caricature of those types of people, to show how retarded they look.
>>
>>141952613
His obssession with Aiko made him even worse of an human being. If he had forgotten about her like your usual middle schooler he'd probably have turned out better.
Or maybe not, maybe it's something in the genes of that family that turns you into a broken shell of a person as soon as you are out of the womb.

https://mangabrog.wordpress.com/2014/07/06/inio-asano-interview-reality-is-tough-so-read-this-manga-about-cute-girls-and-feel-better/
>Asano: If it weren’t for Pegasus and company, a meteor or something would’ve crashed into Earth and driven mankind to extinction, just like Punpun and Aiko wanted. The Pegasus crew saved the Earth at the cost of their lives, but nobody knows it.
>>
>>141953235
Throughout the entire manga, Aiko was the only person he could ever relate to. Even Sachi was on a different wavelength than him, and everyone felt so distant and illusory to him except for Aiko. How can you blame him for obsessing about something like that?
>>
>>141953275
I kind of hate the manga now. Thank you for showing me this, though.

This shitpost is rarely accurate but I feel like this is one of the exceptions.
>>
>>141953554
I hate anyone who says "good vibrations" or acts like they have figured out some eternal enlightening thing that puts them above others.

When I read a manga, I read slowly and play out the words in my head, in the voices that I give the characters. It takes longer to read, but gives a more living feeling to the characters.

Every page that pegasus showed up in, I just raced through the words and read them as fast as possible because I wanted to go back to the stories of the different characters. I didn't want to give him any more time of the day than to just see if his story intersected with the others directly.

Aku no Hana was better
>>
>>141953699
I also rushed through most of Pegasus, it all felt so pointless. Sure it gave kinda of a closure to the 2 friends(I forgot their names), but a shorter arc that didn't involve Pegasus and his crew was probably enough to end their story.
Sure, they saved the earth from this meteor, but why add this to the story at all? We knew Aiko and Punpun wanted to just stop existing, adding a side-story that long to tell you that wasn't necessary.
>>
>>141953699
>he's a sub-vocalizer
Memes aside, do you hate the fact that people think of themselves as superior? Because none of us are equal. So someone has to be.
>>
>>141954039
If they think they're superior, then fine. But if they go around talking about how enlightened or superior they are, even if they really are, it becomes really pretentious to me and it pisses me off.

I'd rather hang out with a gloomy person than someone who goes on and on about how he can see the future or how everything is a good vibration.

It's just really annoying to me, and it has more to do with them not being able to shut up than with whether they really are superior or not.
>>
>>141953926
I'm reading the interview the other anon posted right now, and the author said he put in Pegasus because the part where he started appearing a lot was too boring without him to draw. The part I'm talking about is when Punpun starts to live on his own, and apparently the author thought it was too boring to keep drawing it so he added pegasus.

Honestly, I thought it was fun without pegasus and would have enjoyed the story even more if he never played a big role.

You haven't read Solanin, have you?
>>
>>141954039
I'm resisting the urge to go full autism, but oh well, some will leak.

There is no such thing as "superiour" or "inferiour", for that to be the case there would have to be something you could use to gauge worth, and no such thing exists. Someone can be faster, smarter, richer, stronger, prettier, etc. but this doesn't make them better than anyone else.
>>
>>141951154
they were just unlucky to end up in broken homes, but both of them made a shitload of mistakes
most of them derived directly from the childhood trauma their parents gave them but you don't end up hanging yourself if you did everything right

Is it because they're preaching or because they act smug? I'm trying to draw some basics

>>141954450
Well, terms like 'superior' and 'inferior' being relative doesn't mean they aren't real things. No one is dismissing them to be relative though.
>>
>>141951862
I didn't think so at first but I agree.
>>
>>141955661
>Is it because they're preaching or because they act smug? I'm trying to draw some basics
Yes. I (and it seems like most other people) don't like it when someone acts preachy/smug about how they're so enlightened and starts every sentence with "good vibrations". It comes off as preachy and smug, so I think you did a good job of putting it into words.
