Very true. They should've just skipped the Loki arc completely instead of doing whatever the fuck they were trying to do. The reason I read the novels is because of the world building and actual plot not the ecchi so much. Anime, for me, is just to give me an idea of what the story is and if I find it interesting enough I pick up the LN's. It's actually pretty rare that I finish a season usually I drop it after the 3rd or 4rth episode once my novels come in.

Well, both the studio and the author have said they want to animate the whole lot. It'll depend on the production committee, or rather on how much return on investment the production committee gets for each new season.
DxD is the only series that TNK makes a bankable return with. Everything else has been flops for them, so they'll naturally like to keep milking their cash cow. Ishibumi is just happy to see his characters being animated i think.
Ishibumi retconned the Loki shit for S3 and his time traveling side stories, so he should have a plan for continuing the anime in a mostly cannon way. We'll see I suppose.

I thought it was commonly accepted (by the author and /a/) that the third season is supposed to be shut. We just accept that and take it how it is: butchered. I think they took it in the direction that it went in because they wanted to get this season over with. The next seasons will have faithful adaptations and a continuation of the story. BORN is an alternate universe.
