Is this shit any good? I watched the first to episodes but it didn't appeal to me, however this seems to be the "best" of this season? Why is it good? Or should I just read the manga instead?

It's good and it's unfortunate that a lot of people seem turned off by the reincarnation fantasy land bullshit. It gets away from the sillier elements of that pretty quickly.

The issue is he got thrown into a world without explaining who he realy was to the viewer beforehand. From what we knowso far excluding arc 3, 4 and 5, he seemed to be somewhat jaded with reality ("Ahh... this is where they hook you in.." line at the manga while also stashing it away, staying all day in his room playing video games) but nothing concrete. Also the fact that he so far doesnt want to go back but keep moving, something's with him |BIG SPOILER|which later turns out to be his dad, boohoo
We already saw him break 3 times, and shit is going to get worse at arc 3. He want this world he now lives in to work and hes getting pretty desperate.
Subaru is a good character, the type that swallows his sadness and fakes a giant smile to not only worry others but also to fake confidence which didnt worked out at episode 7 and where we got a true look at this hero; egoistical. He wants this world to work for his own sake and later comes in terms with that this cant happen. He is evolving, he is a round character and not a flat one (which is a huge plus in book).
