When you've run out of good anime to watch, you are left with the shit that is currently airing.
Admittedly, so much of that is shit that I generally drop all but one by episode 5. Occasionally I don't watch anything because it's all dogshit.
In those cases, it's back to books for entertainment.

The onyl thing I'm watching ongoing is JoJo.
For the most part I prefer old 70-90's OVA's though. Shorter, more condensed stories and you can tell the people gave a shit about the project for the most part.

Also unless I really like the series, watching 24 episodes or more is usually not something I want to do, because theres inevitably going to be fluff.

I follow less series as the years go by. It's understandable to not follow a thing every week, but sometimes watching it with /a/ is worth it. Not only is the shitposting evolving, but it's very possible to have good threads from time to time. For example, it's almost impossible to start new threads from old series due to how it was treated when it aired or how it was discussed to death. I still think it's better than marathoning copious amounts in one day, this coming from someone that used to watch more than 2 cours all the time.
