Marik runs a card stealing ring and thus his inclusion in the tournament makes sense. Yami Marik just enjoys causing pain, and the game is a perfect opportunity for a YAMI NO GEEMU.
The only other DM villain is Bakura who typically prefers to do D&D style games for his evil plans and shit.
This is how this Xyz arc will end:Yugo and Yuri have a duel to the death. Yuri ultimately defeats Yugo and absorbs him, he then goes on a full assault on Yusho Duel School together with Edo after Yuri reported Yusho's whereabouts to Leo. Unprotected, Yusho flees, and Yuzu & Asuka arrive in Xyz and reunite with Yuya. While Yuya & co. reach Academia's base in Heartland and ruin their headquarters, Academia soldiers enter the final phase of the Arc Area Project and find the remaining Xyzians. Afterwards, many of these Xyz remnants are carded, largely because of Kaito's refusal to help them. Kaito then feels regret but Yuya & co. arrive and Kaito then tries to shift the blame on them. Yuya and Kaito then duel, this time to the bitter end. During this duel, Kaito learns how his rage has caused even more hurt to his fellow citizens, and Yuya defeats him. Kaito repents and comes to his senses after he loses. Reiji and Lancers then arrive in Xyz. The Lancers will go to Academia, with Kaito staying behind to protect the remaining Xyzians. But before they leave, Kaito tells Yuya of a rumor regarding a powerful Xyz duelist who has infiltrated Academia. Just as they prepare to leave, Edo returns and baits Yuya and Yusho by snatching Yuzu back to Academia. With all 4 bracelet girls in Leo's control, Yuya & co. make their final move to Academia with little time remaining...
