It's the ultimate meme anime, it's entire fanbase and it's entire reputation as "deep" is based entirely on memetics. It's popular because some people watched it and talked about how "deep" it was without understanding that that was the intent.
Then it snowballed from there, pleb after pleb being told it was "deep", watching it, pretending to understand it to fit in, while not getting that there's actually nothing there, before spreading the meme on to their friends like a cancer.
It's all a meme, anon. All of it, and that's why I hate it.
