I just lament that Rukia became nothing after being so integral to the series at first.

Sorry for the delay to answer, I was afk, well, I don't think that was such a huge asspull, as you can see one time or another Ichigo had to lose control and hurt his friends(Ishida in this case) in order to defeat an enemy, and he was dying, so he let Shiro take control, but I think that Ulquiorra saving Orihime and Ishida was bullshit, it would be much better if Orihime fight with him, her feelings determine how strong her power is, she was feeling guilty, it would be a fun fight.
