My best guess is that the connotation for "shokei: is more specifically like "retributivist killing" or "revenge killing" as in making someone pay for their crimes by death. She's obsessed with it because the operative part is paying for his crimes. She wants retribution, and death is just the most extreme form of retribution that her teenage mind settles on. It became an obsession because she;s completely unable to fight back or lash out at the person she wants to face retribution, so it just piled up with no outlet, further exacerbated by her utter powerlessness while the abuse remained ongoing.
Like, what she's actually obsessed with is just an extreme form of "punish" and it just doesn't translate well into english. I don't actually know nip though, so that's just a shot in the dark.

Why didn't any one of them act rationally? It's may be their worst fear, sure, but why didn't even one of them apply logic and realize that monsters aren't real, that they don't need to freak out for no reason?
Like when Yura heard the laughing, why didn't he dismiss it, or question it at the very least? Because in reality where could the laughing be coming from inside a forest? Nobody gets triggered like that, so easily - it doesn't make sense. And their fears don't even make sense, they're just loosely written to tie together (e.g. Lovepon muttering "execute" from the get go, for no reason). This characters are written utterly one sided, just there to force the plot.
