It's been a while since I watched Elfen Lied, but I'm pretty sure Lucy didn't come across as yandere to me. She was mentally unstable and dangerous, but that wasn't because of an unhealthy obsession with the MC. She was just mentally unstable and dangerous. Wasn't it because some kids brutally killed her puppy in front of her when she was a kid or something? So now she hates people?
And she did love the MC, but it never came across as an unhealthy obsession to me. In fact, it was about the only thing keeping her sane.
