Elfen Lied wasn't the first dark and edgy anime I ever watched. I watched stuff like Death Note, Higurashi no Naku Koro ni, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Fate/Zero, Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica, School Days, and Serial Experiments Lain long before Elfen Lied, but I do admit the fact I honestly think that Elfen Lied is a good manga and a good anime, even if it does have too much fanservice and gore. You are free to criticize me and my opinion however you may wish.

No. I think it's because it has too much gratituous fanservice and gore, as well as the fact that Lucy/Nyu/Kaede is an axe-crazy psycho yandere who's willing to dismember/kill people using some really bad excuses. Oh, and also the fact that some of the dramatic scenes might seem very forced and exaggerated for some people.
