This movie just appeared on my radar, I think it looks real neat.

Based on a one-shot by Tetsuya Chiba (Ashita no Joe) and comes out this July. It's a Kickstarter project, which is neat since I can't imagine this kind of project being funded normally.
>Kaze no You ni tells the story of Sanpei, an orphaned boy from a family of beekeepers. Sanpei finds a new home after befriending Chiyo, a girl whom Sanpei aids after she is stung by a bee. Together Chiyo, Sanpei, and the villagers of Chiyo's town reclaim a strip of wasteland and cultivate a flower gardern, but one day Sanpei disappears. Chiyo waits for Sanpei in the garden, confident that he will return someday.

2016 is shaping up to be the best year for anime movies in a long, long time I feel like. Besides this we got Kizumonogatari, Silent Voice, Doukyuusei and Kono Sekai no Katasumi ni.

Reminds me of old world masterpiece theatre type stuff. May or may not be boring but not something you see everyday, I hope it's cool. PV looks nice too, I dig the character designs and the backgrounds are gorgeous.

Apparently around $32k from the Kickstarter, which if that's all they're using then yeah that's pretty inexpensive. Poor animators. It's short though, 40 minutes I believe. I think it looks really pretty though.

Yes. A typical episode's supposedly $100-120K, I think, and the real high end is ~300K.
