There's one thing that simply doesn't have a logical explanation in Eva.
We know that Nerv's HQ is right Under that pyramid construction which is in the middle of the Geofront. We know that Eva are also normally docked right below that as seen in Episode 20.
We also know that Tokyo 3 is directly above that.
Now multiple times we have seen Eva being launched to the surface from Nerv HQ to various part of Tokyo-3 and surroundings. Most of the times in the very middle of Tokyo-3.
How is that possible when clearly there are no visible columns in the whole geofront?

There are many visible rail systems along the dome of the geo front, however it is clear that it takes quite some time to get from the surface to Nerv HQ using those, they aren't really a direct way.
Eva logically should follow a similar path but it wouldn't really be the vertical direct way that multiple times are seen animated and it would still take some minutes to make all that roundabout travel.

Dance was a good episode. Like, reflections of Cowboy Bebop good. Fact is, it was there to show Shinji wasn't all depressed all the time. Even in his state he still had upswings, which is very realistic for anyone facing instability like that. It divided up the series too, acting as a threshold between the establishing episodes and the grim ones to come. I feel like from a writing and pacing standpoint it was a very solid piece, if admittedly a bit removed from the main plot.

There is a difference between open-ended resolutions and inconsistencies that break a story's structure, but some people can't see that.
I'll spell this out; NGE is not about giant fighting robots. It's not about evil clandestine corporations, high school life, wacky adventures each episode, or art house inserts into your anime. It's about being human, and how fucked up it is to be human on an emotional level.
Each character is self concerned in this series, for lack of a better term. They all look at the world through a certain lens with a set of rules that makes sense to them. We get the clearest pictures through the eyes of Shinji: "Mom is gone, dad is too busy mixing tang to love me, I'm alone in the world. I want to be loved, I want to feel needed."
The first episode hits with Genji calling him back to get in the fucking robot. But he isn't calling his 'son,' he isn't expressing sympathy for the protagonist's suffering. He is calling for an asset. Shinji wants to be wanted as a person and not as a tool. The Pilot sets up this premise of his 'being needed but not wanted' for the rest of the series.

Each character has some unique playoff to talk about with Shinji, but to keep this brief I'd have to call Asuka one of the most interesting and central to the plot. She's a character with a lens on reality so far off from his own that it causes him to completely lose his shit over it, and the bitter part we can see as a third party is that their pains and desires are basically exactly the same.
Some folk might disagree with me on that, so hear me out: Asuka's stabilizing grip on reality is her usefulness. If people need her, then she won't be disposed of. She adores the fact that she gets to be a pilot because so few people can get such an important role. From the get go, that predisposes her to disliking the other children for the very fact that they might overshadow her and make her lose importance.
"I don't want you to stop paying attention to me" is just the double negative version of Shinji's "I want to be cared about."

Rei gets cluttered, what with there being some convolution around her origins and other versions. I'll focus on the one we know for most of the series.
Rei is the least functional character in the series, almost as if she was poofed into existence at the age she is now. Weird, right? Anyway...
Imagine what that actually would look like. You wouldn't understand conversational cues. You wouldn't understand what an expression is supposed to mean, why people show you their teeth or start moving their hands out of nowhere. When Shinji has an accidental anime moment and starts feeling her up, she isn't insulted because it's not a cue she knows to pick up on. In all likelihood the doctors are checking up on her on the regular, why would contact be appropriate in some cases and not others?
The best scene for Rei and the one that explains the character is the one in her apartment. She's drinking out of beakers, she doesn't know what to do with the trash building up in the place, and it isn't like she understands the societal cues in entertainment. Much of that is 'fun' to us because we deign it to be from a developed sense of correlation, not because it is intrinsically so. Without anything to be shown to do or instruction gained from watching others, she'd rather sleep and attend to a need she understands.
Rei gets a draw from those who feel like she needs to be taken care of, and points for being as earnest as a child. Once someone goes out of their way to protect her, regardless of their motive, she is drawn to them. It's a comment by the writer, really; "pain is something that people can understand. When x and y characters are hurt trying to protect her there isn't any need for a developed understanding to explain what that means." She's both genuine and susceptible behind an inability to express, so the appeal there is easy to understand once you make the connections.

Tokyo 3 sits on top of the surface of the black moon. which is mostly full exept for the top void that makes the geofront, The pyramid and the inverted pyramid pool make up the superficial elements of Nerv HQ, but Nerv itself is like a burried skyscrapper expect with Eva sized floors, top level is most of the human scaled infrastructure, but the deeper yo go you find crazier stuff: The Eva hangar, go lower and you got the dummy plug system, lower and you got the eva graveyard, lower and you eventually reach the shaft that takes you to terminal dogma.
