I've always like when there's a pair of villains that genuinely care about each other. I feel it always helps to add depth to those characters because we're so used to the trope of villains screwing over their partners, even if they are in a relationship, whenever the need suits or benefits them. I know it's done to establish how evil the character is, but, for me anyway, it also makes them less interesting because it's just so cliche.

Just because they hadn't doesn't mean they wouldn't, and that's the entire reason why he chose to attack them-- because eventually when the queer rats got too big, the humans would have wiped them out entirely and replaced them with a new experiment. The two of them can't exist in the same space, and that's one of the biggest themes of the story, that they are all human in that they have the right to exist and to exert their will upon the world. If anything the humans are wrong for creating something they would eventually have to kill off, because it's inhumane.
Things that Medea has done:

>convinced another King's daughters (Jason's dick uncle) that if they killed their dad and chopped up his body and boiled the pieces in a pot that he would be returned to life and youth
>created a cloak for the Princess who was to marry her hubby that engulfed the wearer in flame the moment she put it on, then the King when he desperately tried to put out his flaming daughter
>murdered her children to get back at her husband before flying off the roof on a fiery chariot pulled by dragons

Jesus, why did you have to post this. I actually teared up watching this scene for the first time, seeing Envy legitimately lament and have a mental break down really tore at my heart strings. He even committed suicide, I couldn't help but feel somewhat sorry for Envy even though he murdered Colonel Hughes and you could tell Mustang was beating the shit out of him. I kind of wanted Mustang to stop because it was one of those "STOP STOP, HE'S ALREADY DEAD!!" sort of situations. I wasn't sure who to feel more sorry for in this scene, I definitely felt somewhat bad for Envy.
