But actually I was pointing out how fucking weird an experience it was for me. Cat Returns is actually one of the lower profile Ghibli dub casts. They only have so much pull because John Lassetter is a huge weeb anyway.

It's thanks to all their stuff being done through Disney instead of something like Funimation.
The mouse is most successful animation studio on the world. They know how to get talented high profile actors onto a project and treat it with respect.

I watched it with some anons years ago in a ghibli stream, not bad, but pretty furry for my tastes.
Watched it a long time ago when I was younger, I remember almost nothing about it except that I was confused for most of it and my sister got frustrated that I didn't "get" it.

I'm glad I saw Whisper of the Heart first. Knowing that Yoshifumi KondÅ died after making it makes The Cat Returns somewhat of a poignant homage.
