Just marathoned it in two days, and I think it was a great show. The grip, excitement, suffering and the confrontation in the last episode were absolutely fantastic. I wish I wasn't spoiled from the amount of threads even if I tried avoiding it as much as possible though, and also Airi is clearly the best girl. What were your thoughts, /a/?

Fair point about the meme subs, but personally I put visual quality above anything else in a release, unless the translations are totally incomprehensible. My japanese listening skills are to the point where I can fill in the blanks if I find the translations strange.

Just like all the other series by this mangaka he struggles to form an ending. The anime ending was a bit better than the manga but not by much.

Still going to go along the line that Kayo was a wasted character, her moving on is fine, but she contributed nothing to the plot beside a confirmation that what the MC was doing is good and it's okay that he lost 15 years of his life. Still felt like she should've been a detective or something and was working on solving the cases of who coma'd MC that just so happen to be linked to other murders/copy cat murderers. They could've just referenced in a line or two and then have it be the spin off, she's the most popular character from the show might as well make the spin off revolve around her.
If Airi was the end game they shouldn't of removed her parts at the end of the series. Making her just appear at the end makes her feel like a cheap prize,
I rather they just did a timeskip and you see MC with a kid or wife calling out to him to visit his mom or visit their friends. Maybe a group family shot of all the kids with their families.

He didn't 'escape'. In the anime, it's obvious that Yashiro pulled him out because he's the only guy who would know CPR in the vicinity and nobody else is mentioned. Plus pic related and the fact that he wanted to know about Satoru's future.
In the manga, a vet pulled him out.
Beginning and middle parts were pretty good, with a few eyebrow raising parts. The not really NTR ending was realistic, waiting 15 years would've been silly, but I thought it was a pretty bad thing from a narrative perspective. Should've not tried to lay on the romance so thick or had Kayo get some scenes with the trap.

It was an ok series. It started great, it declined noticeably in the second half. I don't regret that I watched it, but I won't give it a second run.
