/a/ has always been obsessed with Elfen Lied. It's easily one of the most discussed anime series on the site.
Elven Lied remains my favorite cartoon for teaching my children about the importance of love and family values. This is increasingly harder to preserve in modern society, even in a Christian household. I thank Japan every day for this wholesome show.

The nature of forgiveness is explored in a way that lines up with aspects of Christian teaching. When someone's 'feathers are darkened' with guilt, they end up being more prone to further sin. The MC's redemption came from realising that she needed to forgive herself and move on. That doesn't mean that sin is caused by the self, but it does mean that wallowing in guilt and self-pity causes sin to grow and consume someone who would otherwise be a good person.

The reason Jesus Christ's sacrifice is already done has something to do with that same idea of reconciliation of self. Knowing that they are already forgiven, a former sinner can let go of the guilt which was spiralling them down into a life of sinful habits.

Elfen is a great anime to teach children about how violent and evil they actually are inside and how you are supposed to be nice to the person that just brutally murdered your entire family. It also teaches us that all children would cut other people to pieces if they had the power to, so cherish the weak children in our world
