Because they build up a relationship for 12 episodes, then made it all about healing by basically child crush love and then threw it all out of the window in the last episode. I wouldn't have cared if it wasn't romancey, if it was literally just children fun and showed trap-kun and her becoming close together rather than Satoru and her while giving Airi more screentime.
I felt it was more the author afraid of undermining all the work Satoru had by 'OH I DID ALL THIS FOR A GF' rather than 'I did all of this to save two people I love'.

How do you like this girl? She's literally a side character. The chocolate bar story is the most retarded backstory I've ever seen. Her only usefulness in the story was to be a plot device and the consolation prize for the MC. Her entire development she got from believing in Satoru was wiped thanks to the new timeline.

Kayo was just better developed because she got more time dedicated to her, and had an actual impact on the story. Her memories of the MC are gone by the end of story and the main reason she helped Satoru was because of her trauma of trust. Satoru was fine moving on with his life without meeting her.
