When I read posts complaining about isekai game mechanic plots I can only think they are reading too many WN/LNs, I barely see it in anime and its almost always done in a interesting way there.
Even most WNs at least explore it in their own way. Like death march has the MC basically being a game master bugtesting his own reality, Counter Stop has the MC being socially/culturally retarded(stuck inna cave since childhood gitting gud), Katahane no Riku outright ditches the revival part early on for one character and makes the other revival guy suffer for it, etc.
There's not many I can think of where the MC is OP as fuck in a game world with a cheat ability and he just collects haremettes indiscriminately without any type of internal logic or special way of dealing with the plot.

It always benefits him by nature of him not being dead, and having increased information. It's undoubtedly a unique to protagonist cheat-skill, since other than bad memories, there doesn't seem to be any limit to how many times he could die trying. With enough attempts from square one, he could learn every aspect about a given situation, and use that information to turn the situation completely on it's head. There's a physical limitation to what he can do with the information he obtains, but the only way he ever truly fails is by giving up.
It's interesting and relatively balanced for preserving dramatic-tension, but undoubtedly still a cheat. Currently, the only way to permanently lose anything is to hit one of these supposed save-points before he learns about someone he wants to save, finding he's unable to go back and fix everything via an hero.
in the end his power eventually works out as if he had clairvoyance, and so far it's implementation hasn't been boring/frustrating.I like "save-point" powers, it's by far the most interesting MC cheat power. but it's gamey, and risks causing the story to be mega-boring like any other "only I can do this" power that makes you essentially immortal.
