A story about an amnesiac who has to struggle with his conflicting feelings between clinging to the past life he doesn't know or moving forward into the life that he's built for himself. This was mirrored in Koko's story when she chose to let go of her childhood attraction to Mitsuo in order to be with Banri. It would have been simple and straightforward.
Ghost Banri's presence and the whole weird supernatural aspect of it was just an annoying rogue element that had nothing to do with how Banri was trying to live his life now.
