Ten years ago the people on /a/ wanted an adaptation.
Five years ago people on /a/ were sad it would never get one.
Who's the anime for now? I get the feeling all the fans who made Planetarian popular have aged out or are dead now.
For me.
I don't know if I am prepared to relive those feels again.
Picked up
It wasn't bad but I prefered eden

>Planetarian
We're still around lol. I imagine most of us just have jobs or don't visit /a/ as much anymore, at least that is my situation. Do not know about everyone else who was a fan.
My roommate was obsessed with this when I was in college. Kinda wish I'd kept in touch with him since, in hindsight, he was the least annoying friend I've ever had to discuss anime with.
Miss you, Dave.
>>140399545
I became a fan of it about 7 years ago, right before I met someone else who was a big fan. I missmy first girlfriend.
>>140398472
I've been meaning to read this for a few years now actually. There are probably plenty of people who haven't read it who would if an anime were announced.
>>140400373
It's a million years old. Just go ahead and read it.
>>140398472
I started it like a year ago and finished it last Sunday. Tears were shed.
>>140400849
It's not like I'm waiting for an anime, more that I've only ever read 2 VNs in the past so it's a bit of a foreign medium to me. Alos I largely don't have the time nowadays.
>>140401444
It's like a couple of hours long. Just read it on a Saturday night or something.
>>140398472
Well, Best Key Girl threads are making a comeback so probably those guys.
>>140399343
eden is roughly 5 times longer so of course it is better. Also: ero content.
Did I hear Key is remaking the VN itself with new graphics?
>giving Junker a face
Into the trash it goes.jpg
>>140402326
Has anyone ever made a POV anime?
>>140402508
It doesn't have to be PoV. By using clever angles and only showing him from behind, you could never have his face from the front.
>>140402565
>muh faceless self-inserts
>>140402565
That only works for iDOLM@STER and SHAFT. Hell, would you want him to speak in title cards only as well?
>>140398472
Adaptation would require more content to fill a season. Alternative would be an hour or so OVA. Either way, would watch.
That website, though.

I'm just waiting for more Yumemi lewds.
>>140403051
Do not sexualize the Yumemi
>>140403337
Robbutt
Narcissu anime when?
>>140403524
I want a True Remembrance OVA.
>>140403524
Holy shit that was depressing. I read that and Planetarian the same weekend I was getting tests for possible cardiac problems. That and watched Hanbun no Tsuki ga Noboru Sora, which I'm sure no one still on /a/ has ever seen.
>>140403812
Iwas planning on watching that eventually but still haven't.
>>140401444
It's a quick read. Even if you're slow, 6 hours.
>>140401444
Planetarian's not a typical VN. You just sit back and read for two hours.
>>140398472
Was this the one about the robot chick that died at the end or am I thinking of something else?
>>140404318
Something else.
this one they live together as junkers for the rest of his life, till he passes on his legacy.
>>140404318
Nah, she's OK
>>140403812
Iremember watching it and thinking it was alright for something so short and obviously low budget.
>>140404410Will I dream Dave?
>>140404318
This was the one where hekeeps her memory card after her body loses power, travels the lands carrying on her legacy, finds another robot, and dies before he gets to insert the memory card in her.
>>140405591
Probably for the better. At least he didn't die right after installing it and starting her up.
I liked Planetarian but I don't want an anime. It won't be as good when I already know what's gonna happen. That's the problem with watching tearjerkers.
>>140406206
The movie is supposed to be new content, at least.
>>140404374
>>140404410
>>140405591
No wait I think this actually is the thing I was thinking about, doesn't the guy also carry around like a grenade launcher or something? And then he meets the girl and starts to like her then tragedy happens? As you can tell my memory is slightly fuzzy on the topic but nonetheless you helped me remember.
>>140406206
I don't care. It's such a lovely story I want it to be popular. And I'm gonna buy whatever media and merchandise is available. The only franchises I've buyfagged for in the past were Spice & Wolf and Sora no Woto.
Seeing the story acted out is gonna be like reuniting with olddeadfriends. Only thing I'm worried about is I've had over half a decade to picture how various parts of the VN could be animated and there's no way it'll live up to those expectations.
>>140406599
Have you watched the trailer(s) yet?
>>140406610
Yeah. It looks decent to me. If the scene with Yumemi sitting on top of the projector is part of her narration sequence it'll be amazing. The bit with the mech doesn't look great, though.
I just hope they keep the characterizations the same. Like keeping the Junker emotionless and jaded, or how Yumemi in the VN never showed any ability to think critically or exceed her programming until the end.
>>140406868
> The bit with the mech doesn't look great, though.
That's what happens when you don't have KyoAni adapting your works anymore. David Production can pull their weight when they need to, though.
>>140406935
kyoanal is shit though
>>140404305
No branching paths? That's the main thing keeping me from playing VNs.
>>140399545
Omg! John? Is that you?
Oh man, this is crazy!
I really hope you see this.
>>140406958
But they do great with visual effects and post-processing.
>>140403500
STOP
Yumemi is too pure, never sexualize Yumemi
>>140407017
But they suck at character design and series composition aka the most important aspects
>check the latest trailer
>great character design and even looks exciting to watch
David Production finds a way
>>140402692
It's a one hour movie I believe.
Anybody else going to Japan just for the the theater release?
>>140407152
There's a five-episode net anime adapting the VN and then an epilogue movie.
>>140398472
I got spoiled by Yume Miru Kusuri and never could get into other visual novels. Once you read a visual novel like YMK that has voice acting, music, english translation, and last but not least erotic pictures, it is hard to get into VNs that don't have the aforementioned things.
>>140407184
I was just about to call you a casual, nicely done.
>>140403051
>>140403500
Given how practical her design is, I assume she doesn't even have skin under parts of her clothing. Hell the clothing probably comes off in panels instead of like a human outfit.
I always did wonder what'd happen if someone tried to flip her skirt. She'd probably say something how it'd not appropriate behavior.
>>140407000
This post scared me until I realized you were responding to that guy.
>>140406610
Didn't realize that they had trailers out so thanks for the heads up.
Are they adding a bunch of stuff? I get that it's kind of unreasonable to ask for a show that's basically nothing but two characters talking to each other in one location, but I'm not really feeling the whole lonely melancholy thing very much just from the preview.
>>140407305
> I get that it's kind of unreasonable to ask for a show that's basically nothing but two characters talking to each other in one location
Would you have preferred SHAFT adapt it?
>>140407305
Well it's only five episodes. I don't think people realize how long it takes to act something out vs just writing it. A scene that takes 60 seconds to read in the VN could take to minutes to watch happen. You also have his dreams, an explanation of what happened to the world, and the smaller things mentioned in passing.
>>140407399
I think they'd do a pretty good job actually. If nothing else, they can make wordswordswordswords visually interesting.
CLANG CLANG CLANG
>>140398472
I just don't say a word, because even when we talk about stuff we liked years ago people would probably say we're pretending
Planetarian is like the perfect combination of science, art, and emotion. I can't appreciate anything more than it.
>>140407587
Well if you've been on /a/ that long you realize we're going to have to hate it once the livewatch threads are over. It is the order of things.
>>140407608
Planetarian has brilliant atmosphere.
Few other works offer hope in a world drowning in despair, only to mockingly crush it before your eyes.
Only when you have hope can you know true despair.
>>140398472
VNs have gotten a lot more popular due to KS, there's a large amount of people who began reading VNs within the past 5 years (like myself) who are looking forward to the Planetarian anime.
>>140399343
>>140401664
also lolis
both eden and Planetarian are fucking fantastic though
