From what I took of it from the first Season and the one after Nisemonogatari (primarily a fanservice season with a few serious moments here and there), it's a coming of age story mixed with fantasy elements and fancy wordplay.
MC tries to help his local girls deal with their fantasy problems that end up revolving around their life struggles as he grows to accept his fate as a part vampire.
Pretty good one too IMO since while it still wraps around some ecchi harem tropes, the characters manage to develop into more interesting ones as the story develops which is more than can be said of most ecchi harem heroins and their one liners.
