I don't think LN adaptations are the cancer, the real problem is when 50% of the shows per season are just four hour long ads that have no intention of delivering a complete story.

Well the "Isekai" thing is an old and trusted surefire way to make the reader emphasize with the protagonist and makes it easier to introduce a new world because you can just have the protagonist point out what's different from our world instead of skillfully weaving your worldbuilding into the narrative.
It's been done in the west since ages for SF/Fantasy works, especially when the demographic is children and young adults.
No wonder it's so popular in Japan with a large socially repressed target demographic that's prone to escapism, really.

The biggest problem with the anime market is over saturation. One studio making 8-12 different 13 episode shows rather than focusing on 2-3 good 26+ episode shows. But unless the market becomes more profitable, it will remain this way.
