I like both, but the opening 10 episodes of Gurren Lagann were piss poor, most of the fight scenes are poorly written and boring, the speeches about manliness are cringey and unsubtle af, most of its characters are completely 1D, it mostly wastes what potential its better characters had, the ending few episodes are just asspull after asspull, the list goes on.
Kill la Kill has everything that made Gurren Lagann likeable in the end, but none of its flaws. It's just better IMO. All 25 eps of KLK feel like TTGL eps 11-15, which were its best parts.
