I'd also argue that Toeizinger is pretty terrible, and Getter Robo is vastly inferior to its manga.

Toeizinger is in my top 10 of all time and number 1 for 70s mecha. For super robot anime, nothing compares in my book. But I found Combattler to be below average in the first half, and irredeemable in the second half. Nagahama was on the right track for sure though. Voltes and Daimos improved so much on what he was going for that I don't mind Combattler being a hugely inferior experimental project.
