One of the shittiest LN endings possible. It's like if Link collected two pieces of the Tri-Force then said fuck it and let Ganondorf romp all over Hyrule all cause Link got cold feet. And before any retard starts defending, Lina didn't even know about how the world works or if LoN would reset the world should one side completely win or not. In fact nobody knew that, not even Rezo or Ruby.
Pretty amusing how Try had a better ending than it, but considering how Lost Universe was pretty bleak as well it's probably the author's gig to never allow a complete victory for the MC even if the odds are stacked for them.

But I do agree that TRY did a much better job connecting to Lost Universe than the novels did.

There's a third series? I only know about Lost Universe and if there wasn't an anime I would have never even found out about it. How does the third one tie into it all? Does it explain why the forces of good doesn't seem to know about the reset yet doesn't proactively help Lina? I mean her sister is the strongest knight of all, why is she busy working at a cafe when the world needs saving? Does LON run that joint?

I know Lodoss is table top, to the point where the TV story is based off of the recorded PnP session of the author and his friends (How does it feel to know Deedlit was played by a man?) but I thought Slayers was just in the same vein as Guru Guru where it's more of a parody than anything, only slightly more serious than MGG.
A couple weeks ago I actually watched the ovas, specials and movies since I had finished the series and have to say that it was actually funny, enjoyable as well as serious when it needs to be but played with a lot of worldbuilding opportunities and not taking itself to seriously sums it up as worth watching maybe even again and I hope they make a new series as long as the animation is not shit but try to not fuck up the writing in addition

The anime does a great job, though Rev/Evo-R dropped the ball a bit at least they still had that great music.
But the source material which are the LN is over, and ended on a poor note. There's just not much left to adapt since they went super anime original yet still ripped off the source.

There's two more universes besides Slayers and Lost Universe. A third one takes place in a modern day setting similar to Earth. Supposedly there was a manga for it a few years back (which also had Lina and GOurry as a cameo). But I haven't read it myself.
The fourth one is a total mystery. We only know that it exists because of the pantheon of gods/mazoku points to it.

Was there only 4 worlds from the giant ass pillar? I'd swear there was more, but maybe it's been too long and I just mistook the 7 worlds from Mushoku Tensei and mixed it up.
But does the third one only have a manga? Cause I remember Lost Universe having a light novel, I think that was the source material to begin with. It'd be strange if the third universe's source material was manga given how the author is a novel writer.
I wouldn't even mind if we never got plot progression, the OVAs did such a great job with Lina's life before Gourry, they could have just filled a bunch of in-between stuff, especially right at the very fucking start with living in the village and getting in trouble with Luna.
I'm also curious about whoever wrote the method to summon LON. It didn't seem like they thought it was too risky to use, so maybe whoever figured it out knew the trick to it. Actually Lina technically mastered it on the first try, she just lost her nerves to do it after realizing what it does. Ignorance was bliss after all.

Slayers is by JC staff, which has always been pretty decent with budget shit and Slayers itself as a series doesn't need very impressive animation since it's funny in a corny way. Even the most bad ass characters like Xellos turns out to be just a drill made of ink.
You could literally make an Inferno Cop tier Slayers and it would sell.

There's four gods and four mazoku lords. Each god has a mazoku lord as a pair. In the universe of Slayers, Shabby was the main mazoku lord, but was split into 7 parts. While Cipheed was 'dead'. In Lost Universe, it was Darkstar and Vorfeed.
The other two universes have additional pairs. Though I forgot their names. But basically, everyone below those pairs are lesser mazoku (Xellos, Hellmaster, etc) or servants to the god (Dragons, Gav before his fall, etc)

I only watched the OVAs with Nagaand read some of the manga. When I learned she wasn't in the series, I just never got into it. I loved the interactions between Lina and Naga.

While Xellos is popular, he doesn't make the whole show. Fans prefer the main four characters by far. And Lina most of all. The fact that R-Evo failed even with Lina shows just how bad it was.I want a remake of Lost Universe more than anything.

The only high fantasy anime that ever was.
The way it seamlessly blends serious plot and comedy is still something really inspiring that today's producers should take a note off.
I am sad they won't make more. It seems that it has been recognized that Revolution sucked, but Try did fine back then, even without lifting the jokes from the LNs. Writing slapstick can't be that hard.
Fuck, you can even make a spin-off, just if they can manage to keep the mood of it. Lost Universe is just like one season of Slayers nobody has ever watched.
