Is it possible to make a good Ys anime adaption?

They already made a couple (not great, though), but yeah, I think it's possible. They characterized Adol as a murderous crazy person sorta in Tenkuu no Shinden.
I think another Legend of Heroes anime adaptation might do better than the Trails in the Sky one - they dropped the ball on that.

Why the everloving fuck would you ever want an Ys adaption? Ys strength is in the gameplay and not the story. The plot doesn't even need to be there. A proper Kiseki adaption would be infinitely better and make more sense with Sen 3 announced.

A Trails adaptation would need to be rather long and really well directed, it's just too easy to fuck up, like most JRPG adaptations, this one especially so, I'd say.

It can work, but it probably can't work as a TV anime. If we're going to do a TV anime, it has to be a very very loose adaptation that follows an episodic or arc based story structure with Adol going from place to place and solving problems. It wouldn't really be the same.
The best idea, and actually the only logical answer if you want a faithful adaptation, would be a series of movies. If you take the actual story from each Ys game they're honestly super short, perfect for a movie length, and that's a good excuse to animate fucktons of action sakuga anyways.
