Actually, I do wear glasses. I like wearing them and I like girls who wear them, too. If I were a cute girl I'd totally wear cute girly glasses like Mirai has, but sadly that's not the case.

I started watching this for Mirai but so far it's just been pretty unremarkable other than the fanservice. Does it get any better? Should I just watch the OVA instead?

The OVA barely has Mirai in it, it's a prequel focusing on the other characters.
The series does get a little better near the end, including the movie. But up to you if you feel like continuing only for Mirai
