Additionally, Shirou's "hurr grills can't fite" attitude is only in the Fate route, and is much less pronounced in the VN, while at the same time giving good reasons for why he thinks that way.
Put simply, you got easily the worst possible introduction to Fate/Stay Night. Play the VN if you want the full experience, or if you don't have the time for it, watch UBW and wait for the Heaven's Feel movies, then watch Fate/Zero.

It is a Gary Stu trait if he gets special treatment from the narrstive and absorb importance from other characters. His "flaws" become a excuse to bring more attention to him and glorify his actions. Saber being expectator to his fight with Archer was Gary Stu-ish as fuck.
Maybe I should watch more shows but his beta level feels extremely first-world problems tier. Shinji and Yukiteru I can mildly understand their issues.
