I sincerely wish that Shinji was a better character than he was. I was really hoping that he'd somehow be redeemable by the time everything was said and done, and that Shirou would at least have a male companion that he could relate to. But instead, every one of Shirou's relationships had to revolve around his stupid fucking harem instead.
The total and utter lack of relevant male companions is one of the many reasons why F/SN is so hard to take seriously in the first place. Along with being the main reason why I liked Zero more despite reading the VN first.
