You can start at 3-A or read 1 and 2, which cover the events adapted into the anime. The adaptation is faithful, but their sheer length means that many details are glossed over or outright skipped in the anime, so it's better to start from the beginning.
That said, the translations of the early novels aren't great -- it gets better when js06 picks them up.
