There's novels after the anime but there's nothing translated ( I'll always be fucking depressed about that ) and there's a manga that's completely different than the anime (it is shit, don't bother looking).

Kazuma is seriously the best protagonist of any series I've watched. He's likeable -- douchey enough to be fun and entertaining and good hearted enough to not be a complete degenerate.

I hate that Scryed isn't well-known and it's probably due to the fact that there are so few interesting characters in it. Kazuma (+ his rivalry with Ryuhou, a character who isn't that compelling himself) and Cougar are probably the only things about the show that are worth watching it for.
