Akutagawa was trained by Dazai when he was still with the Port Mafia. Akutagawa always wanted Dazai's acknowledgment but he never got it.
Dazai later abandoned the mafia and joined the Armed Detective Company. Akutagawa feels very betrayed and hates Dazai but still wants his approval. The first episode you saw Dazai recruit Atsushi. So Atsushi is Akutagawa's replacement in a way.
Dazai is aware that Akutagawa wants and he fucks with Akutagawa and tells him that Atsushi is better than him.

They did bait but isn't that homo if you read the manga. Dasai is an authoritative figure to both although he's more like an older brother to Asushi. Akutagawa never gets Dasai's affection compared to Atsushi.

Something about it seems really generic, I dunno. It has that josei series feel with all the guys being chummy with each other in a strange, not quite realistic manner. I guess it must be because it's got Miyano voicing and doing his apologetic character thing.

It's generic battle shounen but published in a seinen magazine.
It's like Kekkai Sensen, but Kekkai had a visual flair and unique setting to keep me awake.
First episode was okay, although something about the character designs is really unappealing and the art direction was pretty bland. But it doesn't take itself too seriously so I can just enjoy it for what it is.

It was fun, but also incredibly gay. There's a lot of cute boys presenting their butts or looking at angles that make them look like cute girls.
