In the PVs (the old AF one and this one) he comes off as rather boring, but that's just Higashida with his usual poker face, you do see him showing plenty of other sides of himself in the story.
He's actually rather proactive.
He's like a mxture of Takanashi and Satou, plus his own thing.
On the other hand, Miyakoshi can be as dumb as Yamada, as naive as Poplar, is Chief as Yachiyo (her body type is also the same) and has a similar hairstyle to Inami's (but a bit longer), plus her own characteristics.
Adachi and Muranushi are like Ichimiya and Chihaya from SxS.
Shiho and Yuuta are their own thing. Shiho is crazy as fuck.

The webcomic was the first "Working" that Takatsu Karino wrote. She began writing it in 2002.
The Working series you watched was another work she did when she worked with Young GanGan, which she began working on during 2004.
The webcomic ended in 2012 whereas the serialised one ended in 2014.
That being said, the webcomic is being serialised now as well. It began being serialised last year.
I'm assuming it'll be good, but "will it be as good as the original Working" is a tougher question.
If there isn't an Inami clone then it stands a fair chance at it. Or at least, it could be on a similar scale if its cast as a whole isn't quite as good but there's no Inami.

Inami started off as a generic 'punch the MC' girl. But grew better in season 2 by slowly getting away from punching the MC and actually talking to him. In other words, there was character development.
Yamada's entire role in the show from the start was just to run into a room and interrupt people. And she stays this way all the way to the end of season 3. And the big episode that is suppose to explain why she is this way ended up being the dumbest part of the whole show. Honestly, I question why people like Yamada at all unless they are really obsessed with blue haired girls or loved Koala Su in Love Hina.
If the removal of anyone would improve Working, it would be removing Yamada.
