They also knew that showing his arms would mean a much more extensive and expensive makeup job, so they tried to mimick the patterns with armor pads.
Set photos reveal that the director basically tinted everything and made Piccolo look pale and like he was wearing black too.

If they had an actual decent budget, I suspect the movie would have succeeded despite it's flaws, because they could have cast good actors and spent more on costume and special effects.

The opposite, SS was basically Kaioken x50 with no real energy drain. It was the perfect version of the Kaioken. Goku's work on the SS was more to allow them to get used to the state and eliminate the emotional turmoil of it. If he did fix some kind of energy drain, it was never an issue in the first place.
Neither base SS nor SS2 ever displayed actual energy drain issues in any fight or moment in the series. SS3 was the only one where the drain became an issue.

Goten was 7/8 at the end of the Buu saga, so depending on how much time had passed between that and Battle of the Gods he may be 9/10 now as well.
Goten is supposed to be way fucking stronger than Goku or Gohan if he kept training given that he went Super Saiyan at 7yo, but him and Trunks were almost as lazy as Gohan regarding training since the end of the Buu saga so I guess they're weak now or something.
