I'd say the plane works better because it flows really well in the manga.
You keep jumping between the team making their preparations, the clock, Sato in the airport, the manager of Grant Pharma.
You also see everyone checking their clocks regularly.
The entire chapter flows like a well directed sequence from an action movie, which holds the anime back as it can't compare.
