Ok, I worded it wrong. Aesthetics is the major factor that most people want to watch an anime series.Though I tend to stay on for the story.
Also, I was talking about anime series that are "adaptations". If the story somehow lacks something and you complain about it, then read the source material. That's the advantage of adaptations to originals because the more fleshed out version is already available compared to originals(which tends to create absurd levels of theories).

Well that is sort of valid. Sure it is unfair to hold the limitations of any medium against it. However, think of any scene from a manga that you particularly enjoyed. Now tell me it couldn't be improved with a good and fitting soundtrack.
