It's actually the opposite. People frequently outgrow childhood allergies, especially if they are very mild ones. I had allergies to pollen and cat hair as a kid, now neither really bothers me.

You are generalizing from an extreme case. How many cases do you think there are where simply nothing happened upon the return of the child?
Which of the two scenarios would rather make it into the newspapers? Imagine the headlines:
"Kid safely returned to home by kind man, nothing happened."
"Kid returned to home by seemingly kind man who actually gathered CP."

Also, it's false analogy.

If the kid is 12 or under, it's the parents fault.
If the kid is over 12 it's their own fault.

However, most adults (Especially stressed out, irresponsible parents) would rather deflect blame onto someone else than to admit their own wrongs; therefore accusing the good samaritan is a rare but existing possibility.

In the case of a teenager; they would be hesitant to accept responsibility and might instinctively lie in order to avoid blame. Claiming you kidnapped them or the like is also a rare possibility.

These things aren't just delusions of paranoia but rather things that have already occurred in the past. People have been charged and even arrested only to get out years later when the child or parent confesses (If they confess.).

I also don't think it's worth it helping others in general, not trying to be edgy; but when's the last time helping a stranger actually earned you some genuine gratitude?

>therefore accusing the good samaritan is a rare but existing possibility.
A toilet falling from an airplane and killing you is a rare but existing possibility. Getting hit by lightning bolts are rare but existing possibilities, yet you go outside.
Shark attacks and accidental poisonings are rare but existing possibilities, yet you go swimming and wash your hands not often enough.

Pretty much anything is possible. What matters is: How likely are they really? What are the costs of trying to avoid the possibilites?

>I also don't think it's worth it helping others in general, not trying to be edgy;
You might've tried to avoid being edgy, but it didn't work, filthy consequentialist.

>>
>>139391176
Well, if it's a college girl on campus, it's probably some emotional thing that would be better for a fellow female to help with. Like she got dumped or failed a class or something. I wouldn't feel bad about leaving her to herself.

If it's a mom or grandmom age woman, it's probably serious life woes. Like someone died or she lost her job and doesn't know how she's going to feed her family.

If it's a little girl, she's probably lost (or thinks she's lost).
>>
>>139395118
was this from my little dictator?

did that ever even come out?
>>
>>139396545
Why do you assume there's no major risk in helping old people? What if the old lady accuses you of trying to steal her handbag while you got close? What if she's a nutty, demented, old cat lady that'll stab you in her sudden psychotic attacks? What if she's lonely after her husbands death and is now fighting suicidal thoughts, which she wants to act up on in a massive suicide bombing? What if she's an accountant for a major crime syndicate, and Italian mobsters are going to drive by to shoot her, killing both of you in the process?

Some of those are probably even more likely than you being accused of being a kidnapper-rapist when all you do is return a child home.

Just like a label like "high" is an asspull.

>But from ancedotal evidence,
Anecdotal evidence is the worst there is, and it basically isn't a reasonable form of evidence in any serious scientific discussion.

Go do a literature search, find three up-to-date peer-reviewed longitudinal observatory studies, two clinical trials and a meta-study for both, all published in reputable journals and agreed to be the scientific consensus, affirming your claim, then you can come back and tell me that you were right. Too hard? Well, that sucks, but finding out truths is an arduous process and making scientific claims has a high standard of validity.

People should learn to admit that they just don't know more often.

Why would you even allow children to fly on airlines unaccompanied?

And why not just make a rule saying the children have to sit next to a parent or guardian?

And just make reserved locations for special cases like summer camps or large families?

We need some good ol' government regulation on this.

The burden of proof is on the original claimant: >>139394226

Addendum: I'll readily admit that I don't know that the opposite is true. My only goal is to show you that you don't know either and that you shouldn't make sweeping generalizations so easily.

The burden of proof may be on him, but you are denying the claim so passionately, that you must be an expert on the subject, correct? Because if you had no proper information other than "i dont think thats true" you have as little crediability as he does.

It would be if it was mandatory that very unaccompanird child MUST be on that flight.
>>139398105
I would prefer that to having to deal with a little shit the whole plane ride.
>>
>>139398137
Of a flight of 100+ people, there would be at most like 2 or 3 kids that are flying unaccompanied. The airline wouldn't waste money like that.
>>
>>139398137
Anon, how common do you think unattended children flying is? Do you honestly think that even weekly flights would be full?

And before you answer keep in mind that this is for EVERY route.

So they have to make me uncomfortable in the process? Maybe charge less for seats where you might be placed next to a little shit?

>How "high"? 99%? 70%?
>Based on what evidence?
It's not just the chance of an event occurring but also the severity of the event that matters. Russian roulette with a 100 barrel chamber and one round is still going to put most people off just because the risk is too great.
>>
>>139398693
Better watch those flying toilets then. If one hits you, you are dead for certain, and death is pretty severe, last I looked.
>>
>>139398832
Nah, it only takes like 10 seconds to respawn.
>>
>>139398832
Do you have statistics on death by toilet? Because for all we know, they could be very high
>>
>>139398832
Exactly. I do look up because there are a lot of planes and choppers in this area. I got to see some cobras do a flyby once, so it was nice.
>>
Humans are one of the most complicated things we can mass produce through unskilled labor.
>>
>>139398832
With what little I know about this world, being hit by a flying toilet is something I don't think I can ever anticipate, I've never seen nor heard it happen so I don't even know if it's possible.

But a panicking mother, indoctrinated by the media to believe child snatchers are hiding around every corner, jumping to conclusions in her likely emotional state? That seems much more likely to me and I've seen it happen first hand.

>>139388876
Wait, is that from the tank or is it a bonus somewhere? I don't remember this.

The Federal Aviation Administration of the USA releases yearly statistics on damages through "blue ice" (= fecal matter escaping from plane fecal matter collection tanks due to leaky seals, then forming into balls and freezing solid). There's about one case per year. Those frozen balls are known to have crashed through roofs, like meteroids. Both the blue ice and meteroids can kill people. It actually has only been like two or three months that someone last was killed by a meteroid (some poor Indian).

So, watch out for those frozen shit balls falling from the sky.

>>139399209
> being hit by a flying toilet is something I don't think I can ever anticipate,
You can drastically decrease the chance to be hit by objects falling from the sky by henceforth only living in a nuclear bunker, always taking the subways and carrying protective gear that scans for rapidly approaching objects so that you are notified to seek shelter.

>That seems much more likely to me
What seems likely and what is really common is all too often very different. Lets look at a bit more common cases, for example:

Rank the following by number of deaths in 2013, and try to make an accurate guess of how many people died through those means:

Assault (homicide)
Shark attacks
Lightning bolts
Accidental poisoning (excluding alcohol)

Almost [only in USA, 2013]:

Accidental poisoning and exposure to noxious substances (38851 deaths)
Assault (16121 deaths)
Lightning (23 deaths )
Shark [only unprovoked] (2 deaths)

http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/data/nvsr/nvsr64/nvsr64_02.pdf
http://www.lightningsafety.noaa.gov/fatalities.shtml
http://www.sharkattackfile.net/spreadsheets/GSAF5.xls

In the US 2013, you were more than 10 times more likely to die of a lightning bolt than a shark attack,
700x more likely to die of assault than a lightning bolt,
and 2,4x more likely to die of accidentally poisoning yourself than to die of a homicidal assault.

Yet absolutely nobody cares about accidental poisoning, despite these cases being easily preventable.

Don't they consider overdoses into these? Still a very dumb way of dying.
>>

>Yet absolutely nobody cares about accidental poisoning
All my life I've been wondering why I'm the odd one out and now I know, It's because my parents taught me to wash my hands after handling bleach. Those fiends sent me down this path from the start.
>>
>>139401635
I probably would have put poison first, but you had (excluding aclohol) and I didn't think that many people would come into contact with poisons.
>>
>>139401728
No, there are separate drug statistics. That's also why I highlighted alcohol not being part of the equation. It's rather cases like some idiot opening a container of poisonous gas or not washing his hands properly and then eating something. There's actually been very interesting studies showing that over 90% (don't remember exact numbers) of people don't wash their hands properly (less because of frequency, much more because of e.g. doing it much too short).

Most of these are accidental overdoses of illegal or non-prescribed prescription drugs though. The amount of folks dying of regular chemicals is very low, mostly due to pic related, and the fact that most chemicals, in the way that most people are exposed to them, are not so deadly that help cannot be administered in time, the vast majority of the time.
>b-but drugs are tracked separately
All causes of death are tracked separately, but pretty much all poisoning stats I can find (which include the numbers in the quoted posts) include accidental drug overdoses. In fact, 15k+ are just from opioid painkiller overdoses.
