Just finished watching Rebellion and i feel like i must be retarded, because i didn't understand it WHATSOEVER.
I watched the main series when it aired and had no problems understanding it though.
It's literally all fanfictions made into a movie, it's just a shit movie. Only worth for AIYO.

What i simply don't understand is, if my memory serves me right at the end of the main series Madoka wished that Magical Girls never existed in the first place, so i don't understand how anything in this movie could even take place.

the movie is very much split on /a/ wether its good if you liked the things the movie did then you liked the movie. i had no problem with the movie i think its really nice for the fans of the series its crazy like the original series flipped into overdrive.

Homu began the transformation into a witch about the same time madoka become a concept. Realizing this, madoka went to help her or some shit and brought the others with her (or some shit) and they all got trapped in Homu and forgot what the fuck was going on. Long story short, homu finishes the transformation because the kyubeys are gonna rape everyone or something and homu wanted to protect madoka so yeah that happens and then madokas gonna be all YEAAAH BITCH and help homu but homu stops her at the last second, rewrites existence with the kyubeys in place of madoka as the conceptual thing keeping the universe in check so she doesnt have to and beats the fuck out of kyubey 1.0. So then madoka and the other megucas are just mind wiped and thrown back into normal life. Madokas gonna remember shes god eventually tho. And homu transformed into a witch out of love, not despair which no one fucking gets.

Did you even watch the epilogue? Only witches were wished away, not the whole system. Coobie spent like 3 minutes expositing about it.

homu began the transformation before madoka was capable of doing so and i believe the kyubeys had some hand in preserving homu or something, i know they interfered in the process somehow. My guess is as a way to counter Madooka. And as for how madoka could help homu as a concept, well, shes more or less god, im sure she can materialize if she wishes to. Every last rule in the entire universe falls beneath her jurisdiction.

The whole process still exists, Incubators grant wishes and make Magical Girls, but when the process reaches the last step where Magical Girls give in to their grief and turn into witches Madoka steps in as a cosmic entity to take away the grief.
