BamCo got fucking lazy. They merged the teams, they are still on last gen hardware, and they haven't added cool features to the Battle System in a while. If coming up with new ones is too difficult, they could just use old ones. For example, I think that a Battle System that combines the FoF changes from Abyss and Death Strikes from Vesperia would be cool.
They also have gotten lazy with their characters and story. I mean goddamn, just use the same shitty troupe of the misunderstood villian and a decent cast, it is ain't rocket science.

-Eat every fucking single herb you see and have in your inventory. There's absolutely no point in keeping them since you can New Game+ stats AND they keep growing anyway. It's also the only way to raise character stats without equipment.
-Buy the best equipment money can buy.
-Remember those dangerous looking mobs? Beat as many of them as you can. They drop key items that automatically raise your HP by 50/100/etc.
-Use All Divides and Items like crazy. Items only cost gald anyway and gald is easy to get.
The system is actually pretty easy once you understand it. It is very out of place in this series, though.
