It was such shit despite having a great premise that actually got used in the last 2 eps(which were the best).
I'd say give it a go, op 2 is mindblowingly good and the character design is great, just dont go expecting great plot until the last 2 eps and the movie.

If you're talking about picking up the anime, keep in mind there will be a lot of 80s style filler eps that seem pointless but they help fill out the characters and background a bit.
