I'm still mad how they treated the death. It was supposed to be an extremely emotional thing, much more than it was in the anime. They didn't even have her cry, which in her actual death in the LN, she does, massively. And not because of the blade literally sawing her in half, though that was also causing unendurable agony which she couldn't faint and escape from. It's because the crushing toll of her horrible life finally came to a crescendo. And her one thing she stayed alive for, closed her heart for, her mission from Jurgen, was crushed by someone who may as well have been his spiritual heir. All she'd done, all she'd suffered, and made others to suffer, it was all for naught. She knew few would mourn her, many would speak the most ill of her after she died, the only living people who knew the whole truth either harassed or otherwise silenced.
She also smiled, because it was finally over. She wasn't worried about Hell - her life already was it. The one thing that had changed her, turned her around, gave her hope, had died a long time ago, and she had failed everyone else too, but when she failed even that burden, and all her other ties dead, she had nothing more to tie her to this world. So she smiled - Theo freed her. Maybe he would now realize the true suffering of trying to keep humanity alive for one more day. His pain, it had only begun.
But beyond that, too, she smiled because she could at least entrust someone with her ideal, whether they wanted to accept it or not. Humanity was now his to save, or not. She was happy because she knew who he was, and that he would do as Jurgen did - bear the burden for the happier day.
If I remember right, Theo is quite stoic during her death, but as the months pass in the epilogue, he starts to really get haunted by it.

I think she would feel pretty low. Jurgen, she could rationalize. He was, after all, her brother. But it was frustrating to see Theo swallow his affections for her in favor of his own sister. That just wasn't fair, was it. She knew Lise had hated her at the time, both because of her association with Beatrix, but also because Lise was under the impression that Iris had murdered her own older brother, something that went against every fiber of Lise's being. And yet, she was forced to hold her tongue as people spread the rumors that she had betrayed Jurgen and shot him at the behest of the Stasi.
The worst for Iris was that she wasn't alone, she wasn't even pitied. Now that Beatrix had a ring on her finger, slept next to Jurgen every night, and had a couple of children with him, she didn't view Iris as anything more than her husband's sister. It was almost insulting to Iris that Beatrix leaned on her for babysitting. Once she heard the whole story, Lise was perfectly willing to forgive and even admire Iris for protecting her brother by taking the blame for his death. But Lise was also a girl who was happily married to her love. She and Beatrix both had what Iris wanted at this point.
And as Iris sat staring at an empty fireplace, pint glass of brandy in one hand, bowl of chocolate ice cream in the other, the worst part seemed to be that she had no legitimate reason to be upset. These people all loved her, as a sister, friend, or mentor. They wanted to be around her, and they wanted the best for her. But they each had what she wanted, and that was destroying her.

The most hilarious part was them carting that background character carefully away on a stretcher, while Irisdina bled out for half an hour.
By far the weakest part of Schwarzemarken, which I enjoyed on the whole, was all characters getting to speak their dying words or at the very least, in Pham's case, conveying some sort of emotion. No one just got BTFO and was fucking dead.

Actually, it seems to me at least that she would most likely die in Lise's route. Even if, the route could end on a bittersweet note, like Stasi Theo, Lise, and Beatrix and whoever is left succeeding in holding on till the bitter end, and the survivors arriving as broken shadows in London, with a pregnant Lise.

There could be a secret route its just damn unlikely. Nice thought though innit? At least there is a possibility of Beatrix having a more graceful end in a Lise route without being desecrated by moderates and their banal ways. Personally I'd like an entire alternate take where Theo is indoctrinated in stasi ways by bargaining for Lise's life instead but thats truly wishful thinking. Though there are chinese/jap fanfics with that exact premise. Best I can hope for is Beatrix getting an end that contributes to Jurgen's dream rather than signalling the end, at least of that interpretation of it, and Theo and Lise get to move west like their family intended from the start and have their peaceful life. Realistically every route will be variations of suffering.

The problem is either way Theo leans people are gonna die, and the 666th don't deserve to be at the stasi's mercy and punished for Iris' sake. It really comes down to who he decides to save in the name of true love, but he can't save all of them. Especially when they don't want to save each other. Beo and Iris could save everyone a lot of trouble by finding a compromise but by principle or vanity they remain opposed. There will be a Katia route, a Lise route, and an Iris route, but no common sense route.
