I thought it was pretty gud, easily one of my favorite annie-mays, though it dragged on at parts and it certainly wasn't for everyone.

Bull fucking shit. They didn't have anything as the supermarket episode, the bookstore episode and the gameshow episode.
That was Ergo's biggest problem, it couldn't move the plot forward in its own established world. It always had to dip into some dream state to answer any of it's questions, then just blame the episode on a Proxy and move on back in the "real world." Lain and Tex may have been a bit 'out there' with their story and structure, but at least they could explain themselves without resorting to cheap gimmick episodes. Ergo Proxy was never as smart as it thought it was because whenever any kind of narrative challenge presented itself, it cheated its way out with it's 'proxy did it' get out of jail free card.
