Why would you need one? You can just take off the headset and walk away, or move over to the keyboard and kill the program.

So shitty looking. The headgear being a helmet just killed the whole idea, they will never sell that.
>>
Seems fun
Imagine the rape possibilities with this
>>
They need to iterate this concept a few dozen times before it's even anywhere near ready for consumers.
>>
>>139232968
Oh come on, where is the fun in that ?
>>
They could make some kind of VR cafe, where you go to a cafe and play. Maybe have personal accounts and then you'd do dungeons with others?
>>
>>139232968
>Why would you need one? You can just take off the headset and walk away, or move over to the keyboard and kill the program.
Wait until the vestibular stimulation model comes out. Direct electrical signal sent into your ears. That sounds like a clever way to insert a kill switch.
>>
Apparently IBM has some extra money floating around for funding this.

The liability of someone breaking a leg while using this alone, never mind the nightmarish SAO scenario of thousands of people dying? Holy fucking shit.

yyyeah no. i'll stick with the good old kb&mouse.

I feel like this technology has had "a long way to go" for quite some time now, and that perhaps the approaches companies have been taking have been fundamentally flawed in some way. Or maybe I as a potential consumer just have unrealistic expectations that can't even be met. I am not interested in this thing though, and haven't been in any of them really. I think we need to research way more into how the brain works before we can make an actual cool VR device, instead of one of these retarded helmet things or the giant goggles of the facebook one. I fear I may not live that long.
>>
If they can't make these things cheaper than a months rent, they won't be a big hit.
>>
If people can't manage to play their Wii without throwing their remote through their TV, they're really gonna have problems with this. Imagine all the people tripping over their coffee tables.

Also,
>literally running all over the world
I'm sure that'll go over well with the MMO crowd.

>>
>>139234123

They could make the booths self-cleaning, or have robots for that. Nips are good at automation and robots.

We won't live long enough to have the kind of immersive VR that we see portrayed in shows. It would be amazing (but dangerous) if we could really control the mind and stimulate it in a way that would be indistinguishable from reality.

Before that can happen we would need to get computers about 500 times faster than what they are now. Even the most realistic games today still feel plastic-y and empty. You should be able to take a stick and engrave something on the ground, then come back two weeks later and it's still there.
>>
>>139234411

Don't want to walk? Kill a few birds and craft wings for yourself.
>>
>>139234435

Kids in the future will look back on our lives and feel pity for us. They'll be able to virtually live out lives in any of the anime worlds that exist and create their own with ease.
>>
>>139234497

Just as we feel pity for our grandparents and their parents?
>>
>>139234540

Yes, they never had access to the internet like we do now. They spent their time having to do other things instead of shitposting on 4chan.

Considering the boner for old anime I think that shoving a phone in your face and playing boku no pico will be hip thing to do even with virtual worlds.

This. They could easily replicate the gameplay from .hack, considering all you'd need is the neuro goggles and a controller. SAO might be still a ways off before you can get close to an authentic feel for that.

Not sure if this is real or a hoax.

We have had the technology to play games using our minds for a few years now.

An article from 2006 writes about a paralyzed man who is able to move a mouse cursor with his mind using a sensor that is implanted in his brain. Theoretically we can make "VR Headsets" based off of this technology without invasive measures.

Using brain signals to move a mouse cursor on a 2d plane is possible, therefore they should try to focus on doing 3d trials witht hat same technology
